My Approach to Helping
“I believe we feel most connected and capable when we can embrace our imperfections and challenge our self-limiting beliefs.”
Being open and vulnerable isn’t an easy task. In fact, it takes courage to share the deeper parts of ourselves with another person. I cherish the moment a client decides to share their vulnerabilities with me, or a child client invites me to play along. I know these moments bring about trust, and a client’s trust means everything to me. My overall goal is to provide a safe and accepting environment, while empowering clients to become the best versions of themselves.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, and Nationally Certified Counselor. I graduated from Georgia State University in 2014 with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. I enjoy working with children (3+), teens, adults, and parents. My areas of interest include: anxiety, depression, life-changes, grief, trauma, low self-esteem, behavioral issues, anger, social skills, divorce, and parenting struggles. Further, I’m passionate about working with moms who are struggling with postpartum anxiety and/or postpartum depression.
I utilize a client-centered approach with all of my clients, and tailor sessions based on individual needs. I incorporate techniques from Adlerian Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as other expressive therapies. When working with children, I use both directive and non-directive play therapy techniques, and I strongly encourage the family’s participation as well.
I look forward to forming a trusting relationship with you and your family. Please let me know if you have any questions!
