My Approach to Helping
I love to work collaboratively with individuals, families, and couples in my practice. My interpersonal and empathetic skills have accompanied my passion and focus to provide therapy and support to individuals with depression, anxiety-related disorders, and family-related issues such as divorce, parenting, addiction, abandonment, and trauma. I am privileged to be able to work with individuals, couples, and families who come from diverse cultural backgrounds. I love working with adolescents who tend to have difficulties communicating with parents and friends. Some of their behavioral issues stem from lack of emotional communication and I'm here to provide a safe and comforting space for them to fully express themselves.
I work with addiction and co-occurring mental illnesses that accompany addiction. I use CBT to help clients identify negative irrational thought patterns which influence behavior along with a systems approach in that clients who suffer from addiction are all a part of a bigger dysfunctional system that must also be treated. I also love working with families of addicts and alcoholics in providing psycho-education on enabling, codependency, and simply providing a space for them to express their struggles in a supportive environment
