My Approach to Helping
YOU have the ability to make decisions to improve your own life, in the right setting and with the help of an unbiased person to help guide you. By providing you with a safe environment in which to explore the issues that have you "stuck," I am able to help identify strengths on which to build, as well as areas where change may be needed. I am passionate about helping you find solutions to the challenges you face. I love working with individuals, families and couples to help them create the lives they desire to have.
More Info About My Practice
I'm fortunate to have a therapy dog in my practice. Research supports the use of pets in therapy. This practice has been shown to reduce stress, increase rapport, help clients to become more cognizant of emotional reactions and support resiliency in individual sessions.
I have training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and my clients have experienced great outcomes, addressing a wide range of adverse life experiences, using EMDR. I have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and use Gottman Method in my work with couples.
While I don't have openings for weekends and evenings, I have several clinicians in my practice who do. Among the five of us, I'm confident we can find the right "fit" for you!
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Often when you face challenges in your life, you may be unable to share these issues with people close to you, for fear of rejection or other negative repercussions. By choosing therapy, you're able to address the issues with which you struggle, in a non-threatening, non-judgmental environment and with the help of a professional who is called to help people.
