My Approach to Helping

Have you or a loved one experienced a traumatic life event? Do you feel lost, overwhelmed, or hopeless? Whether you’re struggling with addiction, grief, depression, trauma, anxiety, co-parenting, divorce issues, or couples’ issues, you must know that you don’t have to be alone in this journey. I am a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and a Certified Life Coach who brings a positive, proactive approach to therapy, helping clients achieve greater self-esteem, build healthier relationships, and make the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral changes they seek.

My style is warm, client-centered, and creative. My approach is holistic and tailored in accordance with each client’s individual needs. In treating trauma, I emphasize safety and boundaries, and we work at your pace. I focus on building on your natural strengths and help you to identify desired goals and develop the skills and knowledge to achieve them.

I will help you create tools to make a safe and stable environment, within therapy and to use in your daily life. You’ll find the resources and tools to establish clear boundaries, explore new ways to cope with everyday challenges and emotions, and increase your strengths and abilities.

I am confident that by working together we can equip you with the necessary tools to help you face and overcome the challenges you are experiencing. It takes tremendous courage to embark on the journey of personal growth and I consider it an honor to be part of your experience.

My Role as a Therapist

I focus on your strengths, how you have survived, and not pathology. I do not ask what's wrong with you, instead, we invite you to share (when you are ready and we have built-in resources to help with safety and stabilization), What has happened to you? Together we learn how your symptoms make sense given your history or what has happened to you. I offer hope because it helps you find the support, resources, healthy boundaries, and self-care and relationships you need to feel safe. It empowers resilience in you! My goal is to walk with you to understand what happened and find a new sense of your wholeness, empowerment, and strengths.

Healing brings: Increased self-care and compassion, Affect (emotional) regulation, Resource development (awareness of your support systems both inside and outside of you), and the ability to build healthier relationships, starting with a therapeutic relationship of secure attachment.
