My Approach to Helping
The world is too big for so many people to feel so alone. Alicia Summers believes that each person deserves to have a life filled with growth, and one which ultimately leads to sustained fulfillment, belonging, and happiness. She has a passion for helping people with acceptance and understanding, and walking alongside them as they journey toward their goals. Alicia believes that through mental health therapy everyone can become who they long to be and live the life they imagine for themselves.
Alicia Summers has a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology, both from Franciscan University of Steubenville. Alicia utilizes techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Alicia Summers has been involved in the mental health field for many years, and has been personally invested in helping people with mental health struggles since high school, encouraged by her love of supporting peers who had experienced loss, grief, suicidal ideation, and other struggles common in high school. This inspired a pursuit of the mental health field throughout college as well as several volunteer positions and internships including behavioral health programs and after school programs for children with incomplete homes and unhealthy home lives.
Over the last several years Alicia has focused on helping those struggling with anxiety and depression, PTSD, and substance abuse, as well as adolescents within the juvenile probation system. In her spare time, she is a Behavioral Health Specialist for the United States Army Reserves.
