Making the decision to get personal help isn't easy, and sometimes your past experiences have turned you away from speaking to people or reaching out for answers. It's important for me to build a trusting, nonjudgmental, and respectful relationship with everyone that comes into my office. Change can and will happen if you feel safe and secure enough to open up and talk about your personal struggles.

I have worked with many individuals, teens, and couples on issues ranging from anxiety, inability to trust yourself or others, perfectionism, family problems, childhood trauma, unhealthy habits, feeling like you don't fit in, sexual/physical abuse or neglect, addiction issues and much more. In my work I've realized that people do the best they can at managing their problems, but often keep repeating the same patterns and want to change, they just don't know how. After awhile you end up feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, confused, hopeless, and ashamed that your attempts are not working. These feelings are completely normal and I want to assure you that nothing is wrong with you! My role as your therapist is to help you understand what may be happening so you can make the changes needed to live a healthy, fulfilled life.

More Info About My Practice

My training includes many evidence-based treatment methods that range from Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Meditation, Schema Focused Therapy, Stress Reduction techniques, Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

However, I do not believe one type of treatment works for everyone, or that if something works for one person it "should" work with all people. You are an individual and deserve to be treated that way. Together we will decide what will work best for you. You're the expert on your own life and I will do my best to help you make decisions that suite your needs.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

I believe the symptoms you're having are a direct result of what you have been through and what has happened to you in your life. I have a very hard time labeling people with a "disorder" to fit diagnostic criteria that dictates the way I do treatment. I look at you as whole person and assess what is happening in your life currently, what has happened to you in your past and how you have adapted to overcome this. Sometimes it's just a matter of learning new skills and others it's a matter of resolving wounds from your past. Either way, it is almost impossible to do 100% on your own.
