My Approach to Helping

Alexis is a licensed professional counselor who is passionate about working collaboratively with clients during challenging times in their lives and believes in healing for all. She provides a comfortable, non-judgmental space for clients to explore and understand themselves and move towards self-discovery, self-acceptance, and healing. She is a warm and empathic person with genuine care and concern for the clients she works with. She approaches counseling using a holistic and eclectic approach, pulling from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in order to meet the unique needs of each individual and understand each person as a whole. Alexis strives to provide a safe space to foster a productive therapeutic relationship, allowing individuals to create enduring and lasting change within their lives.

Alexis has experience treating eating disorders, anxiety, depression, self-esteem difficulties, body image concerns, and supporting individuals to manage life transitions. Alexis most recently worked treating adult women with eating disorders at the residential level of care and has also worked in a university setting treating students with various mental health concerns.

Alexis is also committed to professional excellence and furthering her training as a clinician. She regularly participates in trainings, workshops, and other learning opportunities to advance her clinical skills.

More Info About My Practice

Balanceworks Counseling is in the process of forming an interpersonal process therapy group for recovery focused, adult women (18+) who want healthy, meaningful support around facing life without their eating disorders. We will focus on topics including but not limited to: relationships, friendships, work, school, family, coping, body image, and dealing with emotions in general. Group members have the opportunity to develop healthier and more effective coping skills and more effective interpersonal functioning through support and exposure to processing in the group. This group is meant for women in the recovery process who are motivated and engaged in individual therapy. I will screen potential group members prior to group to be sure that it is a good fit for the individual and the group. Please contact me with any questions or referrals for this group!
