After 30+ years as a therapist and extensive training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, I'm able to really hear and deeply understand you. Even better, I've learned how to help you bring your calm, compassionate, curious Self to hear, understand, and value every unique part of you.

IFS is a meaningful and innovative option that relies on self-leadership rather than obeying what others tell you. Stress and other symptoms result from your attempts to protect your integrity. Angry, depressed, anxious, and confused parts of ourselves can interfere with our ability to cope with life's pain. Rather than trying to eliminate these parts, IFS welcomes them, then helps us release the pain they carry from the past. When we fully listen to and appreciate the feelings, pain, and history of each part of ourselves, then healing and change naturally follow. I can show you the way.

More Info About My Practice

I accept many different insurances and am very experienced at helping you understand and maximize your insurance benefits. I am in-network with: Aetna, Anthem BC & BS, Medicare, WEA Trust, WPS, and also accept Milw Carpenters Fund/Comp Psych, UMR/UHC Choice Plus, Tri-Care, and more. I also accept cash, check, and credit card arrangements.

I allow 60-70 minutes for every individual session. I see couples and families for a minimum of 90 minutes - most often 120 minutes. I give you and me both the time to slow down, tune in, and really listen. This patient and relaxed approach leads more naturally to the changes and healing that are uniquely right for you, your relationship, or your family.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I enjoy helping couples who are in crisis; perhaps on the verge of divorce, maybe after an affair, or years of emotional distance and loneliness.
Marital and couple's therapy is the most challenging therapy, and the most rewarding work, that I do. I pay careful attention to three realities simultaneously: his perspective, her perspective, and your relationship patterns. Each person's thoughts and feelings, and the relationship, deserve careful and sustained attention. This is why I see couples for a minimum of 90 minutes per session. I use IFS therapy with couples to end painful parts wars, help you understand your partner's wounds and fears, listen with compassion, and connect heart-to-heart again.
My couples work often includes individual sessions with each partner; and we decide together if or when to do that as therapy progresses.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Many of my clients have experienced persistent, emotionally painful symptoms, like depression, anxiety, flashbacks, anger, and many fears or worries. They may have tried alcohol, drugs, medications, talk therapy, excessive work or exercise, and internet addiction to try to numb or escape the emotional wounds of abuse, neglect, assault, rejection, bullying, violence, or abandonment. I help all of my clients face and heal these persistent wounds with Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.
