I strongly believe each person has the inherent capacity to foster personal well-being and wholeness. However, when we encounter major life obstacles, we may also benefit from additional guidance and support. Each person reacts to challenges in his or her own unique way, and there are a variety of methods for addressing presenting issues. Nevertheless, by working together in a supportive, trusting therapeutic relationship we can find effective solutions to help you live the life you really want.

The people in my care describe me as empathic, active, and nonjudgmental. As treatment progresses, I will acknowledge the whole you-
including your cultural background, family situation and social interactions. As therapy is highly experiential, we will employ practical skills that will help us determine which tools are best suited to get you where you need to be. I utilize a range of mindfulness and visualization techniques to help you identify, explore, and overcome your current challenges.

I work to empower both parents and their children to make changes.
It can be painful and frightening to watch our children struggle and suffer. When working with children and teens my value is to collaborate, support and empower the entire family system. Many of the parents I have worked with have felt relief at being a part of the change process for their child. Many of the children and teens I work with have expressed that having a parent invested in their healing and growth has changed their relationship for the better. I work at all times to balance respect, confidentiality and collaboration with all involved to create a family structure which honors each individual's values and needs.
My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'
The meaning of the word disorder in latin means "without order". Struggle often results in our normal order, or homeostasis, becoming "out of order" or imbalanced. As we experience difficulty in our life, each human adjusts the best way we know how. My view is that symptoms and "disorders" are merely an individual's best effort at coping with something that has happened to them. With this view of human suffering I have come to appreciate that every human is doing the very best they are able with the skills and knowledge they have in order to survive and continue in their daily life. Therapy can assist with identifying our ways of coping, keeping what is workable and healthy and changing coping which leads to further suffering in the short or long term. Through addressing our processes which keep us stuck in imbalance, we can build new processes and come to restore balance in ourselves and our lives.
