My Approach to Helping

As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and attain your life goals. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

For over 15 years, I have provided addiction recovery, mindfulness, and integrative mind, body, spirit modalities of healing. I value the therapeutic process where real change is encouraged to happen. I provide a non-judgmental, safe environment while fostering a relationship anchored in compassion, empathy, trust, and respect.

If you are looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you are just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.

My expertise is in substance abuse counseling and co-dependency, anxiety counseling and OCD treatment, as well as family therapy.

Please call or email me for an individual or family therapy consultation today.

More Info About My Practice

I also offer a Codependency, Interpersonal, and Mindfulness Group at my private practice in Raleigh.

If you are struggling with perfectionism, fear of failure, putting others' needs above your own, and difficulty saying no, this group could be for you. This on-going, weekly and open group format will integrate Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, a weekly codependency topic, and the group process. We will explore communication barriers, relationship styles, boundaries, detachment, self-care and increasing self-esteem. You will learn about the core belief systems which influence your choices, behaviors, and habits.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

During our sessions together, I will encourage you to express your thoughts and emotions freely. Although it may be difficult, please be honest and open about yourself and our work together. I truly believe all individuals and families have the ability to heal themselves and their connections with others. The fact you are here right now clearly shows you have great inner strength.

Making life changes may require determination, especially if you are experiencing discouragement, fear, anger, or sadness. However, positive changes can be incredibly liberating and may lead to feelings of satisfaction, fulfillment, and joy. Your job is to explore and gain insight into your thoughts, feelings, and actions. My job is to help you and your loved ones identify and develop healthy life skills that you may add to your current resources.

If you decide to leave therapy ahead of schedule, I encourage you to meet with me for a final interview so we may review our sessions together and process our farewell. Some circumstances may require that you pause treatment temporarily and resume at a later, more convenient time. Alternatively, you may wish that I continue to work on your life management team and be ready to help when an urgent need arises.
