My Approach to Helping

My approach to helping people is to assist them in becoming the person they would like to be. I offer a warm and comfortable environment and assist people in learning tools that they can use for the rest of their lives, not just to use while they are in counseling. I have a passion for helping people and watching them grow and achieve their goals throughout the course of counseling. It absolutely warms my heart when someone I helped years earlier reaches out to me to let me know they are still doing great in life. When someone is in counseling with me, my goal is always to help them become a better person, and more productive in their everyday life. When working with drugalcohol addicted people, I want them to learn how to be sober for the rest of their lives by taking it one day at a time.

More Info About My Practice

I have worked in several roles throughout my career, including as a supervisor, training new clinicians, and of course counselor. I have found directly helping people the most rewarding, which is why I now have my own practice.

I helped investigate the validity of several diagnoses in the DSM V (the diagnosis book on every professional's bookshelf) and am cited in the book for my contribution.
