On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
Starting therapy can be a very daunting experience. It is most important that you feel comfortable with your therapist and that it is a good fit. Reading profiles can be a start, but only by talking on the phone or having a initial session will you get to see if the person you have chosen is someone that you can feel safe opening up to and exploring your concerns. I recommend calling several different therapists and taking ten minutes to explain why you are beginning therapy and see if that therapist is able to connect with you. I work very collaboratively with my clients as we navigate their problems. Some therapists have a different approach and it is important that you find the one that fits you the best. Therapy can be a very rewarding and life changing experience, so I encourage you to move forward and find the right person for you.
