My Approach to Helping
I know personally that therapy may be difficult and uncomfortable, especially in the beginning. When I first sit with someone, I genuinely thank them for showing up, both for themselves, and for the therapeutic relationship we’ll work to develop. I want us to explore how your thoughts and feelings impact your behaviors, how your past experiences have shaped the way you relate to others and how you communicate. I want to celebrate progress with you, and to create a safe space for when you need more support.
I also enjoy incorporating psychoeducation to assist with applying and understanding the concepts and techniques we talk about in session to your everyday life. On an individual level, I want the client to develop trust and compassion in themselves. On a larger scale, my goal is to normalize mental health, especially for populations who’ve had limited access and face stigmatization for seeking support.
