My Approach to Helping
Let’s be honest, the thought of going to therapy is quite terrifying to most people. You will be disclosing your vulnerabilities, emotions, and difficult experiences to a stranger. While it is normal to be apprehensive about therapy, especially if you have never been before, fear of the unknown should not trump your mental health and wellbeing. It is my goal to help break the stigma associated with seeking help. I aim to create a relationship that will foster personal growth, one where you feel supported, accepted, and most importantly, heard. It is my goal to understand the way in which you view the world and your experiences within it, free of judgment. Together, we will collaborate to identify and remove obstacles that are preventing you from reaching your goals and living a fulfilling life. My approach to therapy is to utilize evidence-based modalities subjectively because everyone is unique. Though I typically integrate them. Some of my practices include CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, Psychoeducation, DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), as well as Multicultural and Feministic Therapies.
As I will stress the importance of self-care and exploration in session, I am a firm believer in “practicing what you preach”, so in my spare time I give it my best effort to travel, read, get into anything creative (drawing, painting, writing, dancing), and spend time with those I love and people I wish to learn from. Even at the cost of sounding cliché, life is short, my wish is to make it as colorful as possible.
