My Approach to Helping

Let’s be honest, the thought of going to therapy is quite terrifying to most people. You will be disclosing your vulnerabilities, emotions, and difficult experiences to a stranger. While it is normal to be apprehensive about therapy, especially if you have never been before, fear of the unknown should not trump your mental health and wellbeing. It is my goal to help break the stigma associated with seeking help. I aim to create a relationship that will foster personal growth, one where you feel supported, accepted, and most importantly, heard. It is my goal to understand the way in which you view the world and your experiences within it, free of judgment. Together, we will collaborate to identify and remove obstacles that are preventing you from reaching your goals and living a fulfilling life. My approach to therapy is to utilize evidence-based modalities subjectively because everyone is unique. Though I typically integrate them. Some of my practices include CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, Psychoeducation, DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), as well as Multicultural and Feministic Therapies.

As I will stress the importance of self-care and exploration in session, I am a firm believer in “practicing what you preach”, so in my spare time I give it my best effort to travel, read, get into anything creative (drawing, painting, writing, dancing), and spend time with those I love and people I wish to learn from. Even at the cost of sounding cliché, life is short, my wish is to make it as colorful as possible.

More Info About My Practice

I graduated with my Master of Arts from Georgian Court University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in addictions services. During my time at GCU, I participated in various research projects with department staff which focused on the betterment of the client’s experience and advocating for mental health services and/or policy change. Throughout my training and subsequent clinical experiences, I have had the privilege of working closely with a diverse population with varying presenting issues. I have worked in clinical outpatient settings to inpatient hospitals providing individual and family therapy, facilitating groups, and crisis interventions.
