My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Master of Social Work or LMSW. I earned my master’s degree from Idaho State University in 2022. My first internship included group projects and one on one therapy with seniors who lived at Syringa Chalet in Blackfoot, Idaho. My second internship included working in the START program (Student Transitions and Retention Track) with adults whose goal was to go to college and they needed extra support to do so. The START program at Idaho State University included group work, EQ or emotional intelligence learning, and one on one therapy. I completed my capstone project on preventing suicide in LGBTQIA+ youth and strives to provide them the therapeutic support that they need. I also received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Financial Therapy, Suicide Prevention, and Trauma Informed Care.
I am passionate about working with others to improve their quality of life and give them the tools to navigate everyday issues that inevitably arise. I believe that attitude is important and that it takes consistent work to have a daily positive outlook, with support and collaboration being a key element to health and well-being.
When I am not working, I likes to practice yoga, play with my grandchildren, cook meals for my family, dance, and sing karaoke. Setting goals for well-being and consistent improvement are on my agenda for life.
