My Approach to Helping
I believe that you have all answers that you seek. My values as your therapist are authenticity, unconditional positive regard and empathy. I offer Expressive Arts as an adjunct to support you in a deeper exploration of your challenges so that you have the opportunity to transform the way you live and how you see yourself.
When you work with me, you will find that I allow you space and also structure as needed and desired by you to come to your own conclusions about the meaning that an event in your life has for you. I offer Expressive modalities when I sense that you might be feeling stuck, and you always have the choice to say no to such offerings. You can count on me to gently and emphatically challenge beliefs that are inherently self-critical or untrue, and guide you with regards to how to transform those beliefs using talk therapy and Expressive offerings( including movement or taking on a posture to represent feelings now vs. how you would like to feel)
I welcome clients who are feeling the whole gammit of emotions from very angry to shut down and numb. I can support whatever you are experiencing right now because one of my primary values as your therapist is unconditional positive care. I also value transparency and sharing experiences I have had, so long as it is supportive for you as the client, something I will always check in with you about after sharing an experience.
