My Approach to Helping
My approach to therapy is to be the best therapist I can possibly be. I have worked hard to learn, and gain experience, using a wide variety of therapies and techniques because the counseling process is not a "one size fits all." My goal is to get to know my client, to know what questions to ask, to really listen and to gain an understanding of who they are and what tools will be of value to them. It is my job to shine a light, and to provide resources and direction, in a manner that will both support and challenge my clients to be the person they most desire to be.
More Info About My Practice
My own personal experiences have influenced my approach to therapy in several ways. First, I value the importance of finding a therapist who is a good fit. Finding someone you feel comfortable with is just as important as finding someone who is knowledgeable and experienced - having confidence in your therapist is key. Secondly, I have a genuine heart to help my clients navigate their way to a better life. Having been in the client seat myself has given me a sense of compassion and respect for those that reach out for help. Lastly, I truly believe growth and healing are possible. I have walked through many life situations, both myself and with my clients, and I am constantly in awe of the strength and resiliency that can rise from times of darkness and pain.
