My Approach to Helping

Jonathan Hernandez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in individual and group therapy in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He obtained his both BA in Psychology from Hunter College and Masters in Social work from Hunter’s Silberman School of Social Work. He is certified in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, a specific form of CBT as taught by the Albert Ellis Institute in NY. He believes in using evidence-based practices and draws from CBT, mindfulness training, holistic, and humanistic approaches, in order to be an insightful and compassionate guide to help clients to self-evaluate and find their own paths to happiness.

Growing up in New York City helped Jonathan to see the beauty and strength in diversity and he uses that welcoming and non-judgemental attitude to create a comfortable and safe environment and to tailor treatment to each individual’s values and strengths.
