My Approach to Helping
Hillary LaMontagne, LCPC, CADC, is warm, patient, and supportive as patients work to make difficult changes in their lives. She recognizes the change process is not instantaneous and offers gentle guidance as clients navigate new terrain and create goals on their journey to wellness.
Hillary offers therapy for adolescents and adults of all ages. She is skilled in mood and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, personality disorders, and more severe mental health disorders. She is especially skilled in:
Substance Abuse Recovery: Hillary has extensive training and experience with those who are healing and coping with addiction, and is a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC). Addiction to substances can be detrimental to your well-being, mental and physical. She helps find the right path to getting and staying sober.
Sexual Performance Concerns: Both women and men can have concerns about their sexual performance, but few get the help they are looking for. Hillary opens her office as a safe place to discuss those personal concerns privately. She can also treat sex addiction. She has an open and understanding office for those who practice open relationships and polyamory, as well.
Transgender Transitions: Transitioning into the correct gender can be busy and full of doctors. Hillary is here for your mental health through the process. She can help answer any questions and guide you to where you want to be.
In therapy, Hillary uses CBT and supportive psychotherapy. She also appreciates the power of pets and encourages animal-assisted therapy. She truly wants you to be comfortable and secure when going into therapy with her.
She earned her graduate degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Hillary has nearly two decades of experience in individual and group therapy. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends & family, exercising, going to performing arts events, and traveling.
