My Approach to Helping

Oftentimes along our life’s journey we need extra support for the difficulties that are presented to us. Heather Parente provides empathy, warmth, and compassion to her clients and their struggles, and to help them develop a state and feeling of well-being in a safe environment. Heather has a passion for helping people remember their potential for growth, and applies evidenced-based techniques to instill self-empowerment. Heather believes in providing a whole-person, humanistic approach to help people heal their mind, body, and spirit.

Heather Parente is a National Certified Counselor. She has a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) from Lenoir Rhyne Graduate Studies in Asheville, North Carolina, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Special Education from Michigan State University. Heather utilizes techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, energy psychology, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), art therapy, Gestalt, transpersonal psychology, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.

Heather has enjoyed helping diverse groups of people in many settings for years, both in volunteer situations and professionally. Traveling extensively and being a part of interesting life experiences have all shaped Heather’s love for people. She has worked with homeless populations and at psychiatric hospitals, as well as in school settings as a Special Education teacher for ages 3-12. Teaching people with special needs eventually led her to pursue her advanced CMHC degree to get more to the “root” of people’s life challenges. Throughout her career, Heather has worked with various ages and populations clinically to help people who have been part of in-patient, residential, and the outpatient community mental health settings.
