My Approach to Helping
I have a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, Colorado, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Philippine Normal University in Manila, Philippines. I have had the privilege to work with college students at Northwest Nazarene University Wellness Center where I continued to hone my multicultural competence. I am trained in Crisis Management (with specialization in trauma, suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention), Level 2 Gottman Method Couple’s Therapy, and eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I utilize a responsible eclectic approach to address the individual needs of every client and a person-centered framework as the foundation for establishing counseling relationships. I have also worked with clients suffering from anxiety, depression, eating disorders, grief, attachment injuries, and trauma. I believe in neuroplasticity and the body’s capacity to heal given the right conditions that start in the establishment of a therapeutic alliance between therapist and client.
