My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with IntraSpectrum Counseling and my approach to therapy is collaborative, person-centered, and strengths-based. My integrative, trauma-informed approach to care draws strongly from cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and solution-focused therapy to assist my clients with reaching their goals. I view therapy as an invitation to develop, grow, and learn together and understand that recovery is not a linear process. I want to be seen as a companion on a client’s journey to explore their relationship to problems and someone who will honor and celebrate their unique experiences and identity.
My professional work with children, youth, and adults has spanned a variety of different landscapes, including community mental health agencies, hospitals, residential settings, and schools. Before joining the IntraSpectrum Team, I served as the Director of Social Services at Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital in Chicago and as an Assistant Team Leader for Vinfen Corporation in Boston. My passion for serving the LGBTQIA+ community and multicultural groups and commitment to social justice was nurtured by my lived experiences and academic studies. I received my BS in Psychology and BA in Spanish from Loyola University Chicago and MSW and Certificate in Latinx Leadership from Boston College.
I am a Nashville native whose manners and use of “y’all” will convince you that I'm from elsewhere. I love corgis and will ask you to show me a picture if you own one. I value humor and make space for laughter.
