My Approach to Helping
The foundation of good therapy is the relationship which is based on safety, trust and true compassion. My stance is non-judgmental, accepting and collaborative. Together we are forming a special kind of partnership.
It takes courage to begin therapy and doing so is a sign of strength. I will create a comfortable, trusting and affirming space for you. We will focus on building your strengths and resiliency and giving you the tools to facilitate the change that you seek.
My approach is not a "one size fits all" because you are unique and have your own special needs, history and situation.
The main modality that I use is EMDR Therapy but I also use hypnosis, cognitive behavioral and a variety of mind-body approaches informed by the literature and latest understanding research.
My work is not just a job. It is a calling which I regard as a sacred journey that we embark on together. My commitment to you is not just symptom reduction and to feel better, but for you to reach a stage where you are ready to discharge yourself from treatment with the words "I am thriving and flourishing and am better off for having experienced the very difficulties that brought me to therapy in the first place"
We are calling this Post Traumatic Growth and I believe this is possible for everyone who walks through my door.
