My Approach to Helping
Abby Ruben is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who wholeheartedly believes that you are the expert on your own experiences. Her goal is to help connect you to that expertise in a safe, supportive environment.
Abby is passionate about working 1:1 with adults and teens navigating a variety of concerns, including substance abuse, anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and disordered eating. Abby has experience working at premier addiction and eating disorder treatment centers throughout the country, which helps inform her therapeutic approach.
Abby has the ability to put people at ease with her compassionate, warm style. She is nonjudgmental, genuine, and direct in nature. Abby does not believe in providing “cookie-cutter” treatment. Drawing from a background in CBT, psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, and DBT, she tailors each person’s treatment to meet their own unique needs.
Nicknamed as “The Self-Care Queen,” practicing yoga, bringing true crime shows, cooking, and floating in the ocean are some of her go-to activities.
Abby earned a Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Miami, as well as a Bachelor of Art in Psychology from The University of Tampa. She is licensed in both New York and Florida.
