To recognize National Autism Awareness Month in April, GoodTherapy.org will host a Twitter chat on the topic on April 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. Pacific. Please join us on Twitter by searching the hashtag #AutismTalk and lending your voice to our discussion!
We hope to give compassionate attention to the topic of autism spectrum, acknowledging the controversy behind it and addressing methods of care and treatment for those affected by autism. Our chat is open to all: individuals with autism and their loved ones, parents of children with autism, teachers, mental health professionals, and all others with an interest in exploring this important issue and reducing stigma around it.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have found that around one in 68 children has been identified as being somewhere on the autism spectrum, and surveys indicate that the prevalence of autism issues is on the rise in children. Identification and subsequent care are improving, but families and caregivers still have much to learn about the symptoms of autism and how to help those experiencing it.
There cannot be enough emphasis on finding new ways to identify autism, spread awareness about autism spectrum issues, and promote better care for all individuals living with autism. We hope you will join us on April 23 to talk about each of these points and share any information or experiences you have related to autism spectrum!Reference:
