Depression: Causes and Cures Web Conference

Depression: Causes and Cures discusses the many potential causes and cures for depression.

About the Video

According to Cynthia Lubow, MS, MFT, depression is a catch-all word for many distinct experiences. One person with depression may struggle to get out of bed but still see their value as an individual. Another person may have plenty of energy but be filled with self-loathing.

Cynthia Lubow says depression can be best understood not as an illness but as the mind’s attempt to communicate. Just as a rumbling stomach conveys one’s need for food, depression can tell people they need rest or time to grieve. If someone pays attention to how and why they are experiencing depression, they may figure out what they need for relief.
