Setting the Perfect Fee for a Sustainable Private Practice

Presented by Kelly Higdon, LMFT and Miranda Palmer, LMFT on 11-07-2016 at 9 a.m. Pacific (noon Eastern) to 10:30 a.m. Pacific (1:30 p.m. Eastern)

For clinicians running a private practice, setting fees for services is one of the most integral aspect of running the business. Even if a clinician utilizes successful marketing efforts to attract new clients, if their fee is not set properly, their business will struggle to remain viable. In other words, a clinician can have a full calendar of clients, and still be unprepared to pay taxes or even basic bills at the end of the day!

During this web conference, private practice building experts Miranda Palmer, LMFT and Kelly Higdon, LMFT will outline the steps needed to determine a sustainable fee that will allow clinicians to pay their annual taxes without flinching, take time off for self-care, and focus on providing quality services to the people they treat. Attendees will learn strategies to overcome negative self-talk and doubts about charging a set fee, as well as ways to respond to potential clients’ questions about fees.

This is an interactive event. Attendees may find it helpful to have a list of their business expenses and pen and paper at hand, as Miranda and Kelly will lead the group through some math exercises aimed at calculating fees for services.

This introductory web conference is designed to help clinicians:

  1. Verbalize the impact of the wrong fee on the financial health of the practice and on the clinical services provided.
  2. Describe the equation to use when calculating a fair and sustainable fee for services provided in private practice.
  3. List three barriers clinicians face in charging a fee with confidence.
  4. Detail one strategy to use when clients question a set fee.
