In this 2-hour continuing education training presented by Dr. Kristie Overstreet, therapists and mental health professionals will learn how to provide the best support for transgender and nonbinary clients and their families during times of gender transition. You will gain insight into ever-evolving terminology and language in order to best serve transgender and nonbinary clients. You’ll learn new approaches to help families increase their understanding of their loved one and the gender transition process. And you’ll identify clinical strategies for parents and families going through the transition process. After this training, you’ll feel more confident and competent in your work with transgender and nonbinary clients and their families. The webinar will include question and answer periods.

Dr. Kristie Overstreet is a clinical sexologist, psychotherapist, LGBTQIA+ healthcare expert, host of the Fix Yourself First podcast, and author of Fix Yourself First: 25 Tips to Stop Ruining Your Relationships. She is the creator of the Transgender Dignity Model, training and certification program which teaches medical, behavioral, and wellness professionals how to give dignity and affirming care to transgender and nonbinary individuals. This program helps providers feel more competent and confident in the care they give. In addition, she created an online course, Clinical Assessments and Letter Writing for Social + Medical Transition, to assist providers in helping their clients navigate the transition process.
