Mental health clinicians know that couples come to therapy for many different reasons. One of the most common underlying reasons is that somewhere along the course of a relationship, ideals are not met, and a heart gets broken. Broken heartedness and other issues of the heart can be touching, may bring up sentimental thoughts, and may even cause clinicians to reflect on their own personal lives and past relationships.
In this 2-hour continuing education webinar for couples counselors and therapists, Latasha Matthews will help participants take an introspective look at themselves as it relates to their work with couples. Latasha will review strategies for approaching couples with the best-fit tactics and treatment modalities and providing ethically-sound services to protect and benefit both clinicians and the couples they work with.

Latasha Matthews, MA, LPC, CPCS, CPLC specializes in private practice development and counselor development. She is the author of The Dumping Ground: A Guide to Gaining Powerful Skills to Set Life-Changing Boundaries.
In addition, Latasha is an adjunct professor at Shorter University, Atlanta and the owner of Illumination Counseling and Coaching, LLC. She is the co-founder of Pieces that Fit, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization that provides support for cultural diversity, mental health, academic success, and life skills.
With over 20 years of experience in the human services field, Latasha has a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion that she loves to share. She has taught hundreds of clinicians the importance of boundary setting as well as hosted a master class on this subject. Her passion for this topic, fueled by the personal impact it has had on her life, has led her to travel the nation creatively teaching it. It has also inspired Latasha to write a series of Ground Breaking books.
Latasha earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources from the University of Akron. She earned her MA in Professional Counseling and Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. Her professional memberships include the American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia, and Chi Sigma Iota. She also serves as a committee member on the board for certified professional counselor supervisors from the State of Georgia.
