My Approach to Helping

My experience includes helping clients with various topics such as couples and marriage counseling, individual counseling, anxiety, depression, stress management, communication problems, relationship and family issues, life changes, self-esteem, terminal illness, loss and grief. I provide a safe, supportive counseling environment free of judgment where clients are invited to openly discuss concerns and learn more about themselves in order to become empowered, grow emotionally, gain insight, resolve past issues, and learn the skills necessary to create a fulfilling life.

My eclectic therapy approach is collaborative, integrative, insight-oriented and holistic. Clients feel heard, understood and supported. I have additional training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I also regularly use EMDR Therapy for a variety of issues.

I received a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. I am a National Certified Counselor, Certified EMDR Therapist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida, a certified PrepareEnrich Program Facilitator and a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

In the first session, your therapist will collaborate with you and discuss treatment goals including the frequency of sessions. This topic will be discussed throughout your work together. The number of sessions is unique to each individual and the issues being resolved. The therapist and client should discuss progress with treatment goals and decide collaboratively when it is appropriate to stop treatment. Many clients find that counseling is cyclical in that they need to come to therapy during different times or events throughout their life. Others find "maintenance" sessions to be very helpful in staying motivated and receiving reassurance and guidance that they are continuing to move forward in a positive direction and achieve personal and professional goals.
