My Approach to Helping
My aim in helping people is to assist you in discovering how your current problematic experience(s) are revealing your deeper concerns and needs; discovering any constraints that are keeping you from effectively resolving those concerns and needs; gaining any needed understandings, meanings, and resources which you can use in new intentional ways to resolve concerns and work in your relationships to mutually have your needs met; increasing your sense of purpose, meaning, capability, flexibility and freedom for making wise decisions built on loving acceptance of yourself and others; and developing and maintaining congruence and integrity about yourself and others regarding both physical, relational and spiritual well-being.
My assessment and therapeutic approach progresses through solution-focused, interpersonal conflicts and communications, intrapersonal emotions and beliefs, trauma and family-of-origin issues; while considering physical, emotional, cognitive, relational and spiritual developmental formations of personality patterns. I do this with the goal of collaboratively assisting you in your further growth and transformation.
My philosophy for counseling is based on a Christian worldview of mankind that respects both Biblical narratives and the best of contemporary psychological theory and practice, which includes respect for the dignity of each person regardless of their particular beliefs, religious affiliations or adherence to an alternate worldview.
