My Approach to Helping
Emotions can sometimes be difficult to bear-sadness, worries about yourself and others, fears, anxieties, painful recurrent interactions and relationships. Working with an understanding professional to explore feelings and expectations about yourself and your relationships can be the key to clarifying troubling emotional states. These feelings can cause recurrent painful states, or push us toward repetitive or self-destructive behaviors. Exploring these feelings in a safe relationship can cause feelings about yourself and others to shift, opening you to new ways of thinking and behaving. This allows for greater flexibility, enhanced creativity, a better relationship with yourself, and better connections and relationships.

I work with adults and adolescents experiencing a wide range of difficulties--anxiety, depression, mood swings, eating disorders, excessive fears, peer and relationship difficulties, behavioral changes, and academic problems.

I work with adolescents to help them manage the often overwhelming feelings that can occur during this time of transition. Adolescence can be a time of tremendous upheaval with profound emotional, physical, and neurological growth. I work with adolescents with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, mood swings, eating disorders, excessive fears, peer and relationship difficulties, behavioral changes, and school and academic problems. My work with teens helps them manage the often overwhelming feelings present during this developmental stage.

I provide consultation to parents with concerns regarding their child or adolescent. Issues include developmental changes, emerging sexuality, drug and alcohol use, peer conflicts, academic difficulties, and sibling rivalry.

I also work with couples. Intimate relationships offer us fulfillment and simultaneously stir up some of our deepest anxieties and fears. Couples can use therapy to make sense of the struggles and impasses they face as individuals and within their relationships.

A special area of interest is working with women who have recently received or are living with a breast cancer diagnosis. Together we work to understand present-day difficulties and past influences on the present, and to identify maladaptive patterns as we cultivate strategies for more productive living.

More Info About My Practice
My fees vary depending on your financial means, whether you are interested in short or long term therapy, and frequency of sessions. I generally have several low fee hours available. IF I am unable to see you I will make every effort to refer you to a colleague who accepts low fee clients.

I do not take insurance. I will, however, be happy to provide you with itemized invoices that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

I supervise a wide range of professionals including clinical psychologists and psychologist trainees, marriage and family therapists.

My supervisory style stems from a variety of models, but my focus is always on the therapeutic relationship and how the history and anxieties of the supervisee contributes to clinical choices. ï»Â¿
