My Approach to Helping
I believe everyone has within them the answers to the struggles in their lives, but very often we are blocked by our own internal limitations, fears, and anxieties, or by the demands of the outside world (children, work, social norms, the presence of abuse or neglect). My work seeks to create a safe and trusting environment in which the individual or couple and deeply and thoroughly explore their inner workings in order to reach better understandings of self and others. My expertise in PTSD, aging, dying and grief also makes me an excellent therapist for anyone coping with childhood trauma, chronic illness, caring for a loved one, or for other professionals in the field seeking therapy for themselves.

More Info About My Practice
My client's are primarily fee for service. My fees are reasonable. I do accept EHP (Johns Hopkins health insurance) and Value Options PPO/HMO (I do not accept Medicaid or Medicare). I am happy to assist with submitting paperwork to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.

My Role as a Therapist

A good therapist is the ripple in the reflecting pool. We take what you already know emotionally, help you put it together in a way that makes logical sense (intellectually), then challenge you to reframe your experience in light of this new knowledge. The therapist is the facilitator, the medium between the intellectual and emotional self, and s/he is also a guide out of the darkness when things get stuck or immobilized. Within the context of a safe relationship, free of judgement or censorship, we can address all of lifes problems without fear.
