My Approach to Helping

When we were younger we did the best we could with what resources we had. We accepted many messages from our parent figures and gave ourselves yet other messages. Often we accepted the wounded messages from our parent figures in life (injunctions) along with counterinjunctions from the critical parent figure in our lives. We lived a life script that was usually out of our awareness. We played games - often unknowingly. If you choose, I can help you lead a script-free life. A zest filled passionate life so you experience that Free Child part of yourself - fun and creative - without excess anxiety and fear. Don't live life on automatic pilot. Now that we are older and wiser we can re-examine what decisions we made about who we are and how the world works. We can redecide. Build a new roadmap of life with the support you find in confidential and safe counseling and, of course, in the day to day world that you surround yourself with. Ultimatedly we choose all of what we will feel, do, and think. Insight is not enough. We must take action to change. Insight usually follows change and not the other way around. I am a university professor who teaches graduate students to deal humbly with clients as equals. You have the answers. You are in charge. I will help. I am a published researcher into the mechanisms of change. I have had the good fortune to learn redecision therapy first hand from a renowned expert. My doctoral dissertation was on the topic of redecision therapy. I am here to help you reach YOUR goals. The Power is in You. I accept only a few hard working clients and am able to devote the time and energy to help you reach your passionate goals.

More Info About My Practice

I move fast in therapy, however nobody can guarantee positive results in counseling. I will monitor progress with you and do my very best to use my expertise, creativity, objectivity, and the safe confidential professional environment to work to quickly attain significant positive results as you clearly define this. I love the work I do and have spent the last 16 years intensely studying, researching, and writing about how change occurs. I have published a recent article with Dr. Pat Love (on Oprah) about marriage counseling. I have dealt with my own issues through therapy and believe in the process. I am experienced. My background is varied. I was a mechanical engineer, a MBA, and now am a professor of psychotherapy. I use creative methods and waste no time. Let's move fast. It is an honor to be on this journey with you. Welcome!
