My Approach to Helping
I place a high value on the human interaction. Whatever you struggle with - life transitions, traumatic loss, persistent worry, feelings of sadness or of being stuck - there is something about facing your difficulties in the presence of another that can have a powerful effect. After having been in therapy, many people say that they have gotten more out of the process than they anticipated. It can help to alleviate your symptoms, but perhaps more importantly, it can help you to feel more authentic and spontaneous in your life and more deeply connected to the world around you.
More Info About My Practice
I am a licensed clinical social worker with experience and post-graduate training, as well as warmth, empathy and humor. My work is informed by contemporary psychoanalytic theories and techniques because I believe these facilitate a process that addresses the deepest levels of distress and has the most lasting benefits. I am particularly adept at working with people in a creative process as well as with the effects of childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, destructive habits and addictions, and family/relationship issues. I am committed to maintaining a practice that represents a diversity of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, age and culture.
