My Approach to Helping
I believe that many of the "symptoms" a person presents with in counseling are rooted in pain and the lies they believed based on their past life experiences. My approach is to come along side each person to initially empathize and validate their feelings and thoughts based on their experiences and reality. By using various therapeutic theories and methods, each person will gain a new perspective and understanding about their situations, experiences, feelings, thoughts, and beliefs. The next step is to assist them in reaching a new perception based on their "true" identity, value, and self worth. They assign new and acceptable meanings to their past and present situations. As each person begins their healing process from past wounds through increasing knowledge and new understanding they will be able to embrace their true identity. Each person will recognize there are other options for the choices in their life and situations. The goal in counseling is for each person to become empowered and obtain the ability to set healthy boundaries. They become equip to take care of and protect themselves from abusive behaviors or relationships. Ultimately, each person will gain a new life based on safety, security, self-esteem, and confidence.

More Info About My Practice
I believe it is vital to meet each person right where they are at emotionally, psychologically, physically, and spiritually. I provide a holistic approach in counseling by addressing the needs of the mind, body, and spirit. I will help them to explore various resources they have relied upon to strengthen themselves during times of crisis. Resources such as spiritual beliefs, will be incorporated into their therapy to assist them on their journey toward healing and recovery.
