My goal as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is to help individuals, couples, and families develop possibilities for change. I am committed to creating an environment where individuals can explore their ideas in a caring, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.

I believe that people come to therapy with the ability to find the change that they are seeking. Research suggests that up to 40% of change in therapy can be credited to attributes that a person possesses before starting therapy. My role as a therapist is to help people access these attributes and open possibilities that they may not have previously seen.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as therapist is to join with you and your system and to provide fresh perspective. I believe that meaning is created in discussion between two or more people and that therapy can be helpful in opening new possibilities through these meanings.

My Therapy Focus

Without question it is relationship. As a therapist I sometimes have to tell my clients things that they do not want to hear. The only way to do this effectively is to first have a relationship wherein open and honest feedback can be given.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

I am sensitive to the needs of individuals who have had bad experiences with therapy in the past. I strive to ensure that therapy is about your needs and not mine. Therapist centered therapy is hurtful to the client. I am a client centered therapist; this means that I will enter therapy interested in the your strengths and abilities, not attempting to prove my own. My interest in you will help to create safety in our relationship and that safety will make it possible for us to work together to help you to achieve the goals you desire.
