I've been a practicing Portland-area therapist since 2004. My steadfast goal has been to connect with people who are hurting, in need of direction, or seeking answers to questions in their lives. It is an honor and privilege to assist my clients on their path toward greater discovery, happiness, and healing.
I work with individuals, groups, and couples. I graduated from Portland State University with a degree in psychology, and hold a master's degree in counseling from Western Seminary. I've worked with diverse people from very different religious, ethnic, and family backgrounds, and I've worked with clients of all ages.
We all get "stuck" now and again, and we may need help to move forward in the right direction. A listening ear can help you make tough decisions, pull you back from the brink of a bad choice, and help you work toward the life you want. Friends and family can be and are helpful, but an objective third party can offer you the insight and wisdom of years of training and experience.
Guilt and suffering are serious concerns, and you must deal with them, not avoid them. I know all too well, though, that we can't forget to laugh at life and even at ourselves. I aim to help my clients embrace the fun and adventure that life has in store. God doesn't want us to suffer through life in agony, and I know that laughter is one of the best medicines. Just as there is a time and place for tears, there is also a time and place for laughter.
I challenge my clients to break the chains of shame, family dysfunction, fear, and mental illness. I'll work with you to help you gain the motivation and skills you need to move into a life of freedom, happiness, love, and purpose. I respect you, and know the struggles you must cope with aren't easy, but I will not define you by your weaknesses, and I will never judge you for them. I'll get to know you as an individual and will help you understand your unique gifts, dreams, and hopes. Together we'll help you achieve them.
