It's very common to experience bumps in the road to happiness. Whether you're a couple just starting your journey together, a partnership deciding to go your separate ways, or an individual looking to thrive in your interactions with others, my goal is to help you experience happier, healthier relationships. I specialize in helping clients identify what may be causing those bumps in the road and to help them to develop strategies to more easily glide over them in the future. I strive to create a non-judgement, supportive, environment in which individuals and couples feel safe to explore the things that are troubling them and to have the courage to think outside the box for solutions. I tend to take a pragmatic approach to problem solving, using solutions focused techniques to empower clients to utilize effective communication skills, gain empathy for others, and build insight into their own ways of relating.

More Info About My Practice
I know my clients have busy schedules and often work 9-5 jobs so I offer convenient evening and weekend hours to help make taking the step to pursue counseling just a little bit easier.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
In addition to individual and couples counseling, I offer family and divorce mediation. Mediation is a great alternative to litigation when it comes to divorce. Not only does it save money (litigation can cost ten times that of mediation) but is also puts the couple in charge of the outcome. You, not a court, get to decide what is best for your family (whether that's determining a parenting plan or distributing assets). Mediation can also be a great option for couples or families whose overall relationship is going well but who have one or two specific issues that have become sticking points (maybe parents struggling with whether the kids will go to public or private school or siblings stuck over who will get grandma's china).
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Of course it is important to see a therapist who is licensed and has received adequate training and education to make them competent in their area of practice, but it's also very important to work with someone with whom you feel comfortable and understood. Research has shown that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in whether or not therapy will be a success. Not every therapist is the right fit for every client. Just like people have different tastes in blue jeans (some like boot cut, others like relaxed fit, or maybe you're a fan of skinny jeans) people have different tastes when it comes to therapists. I encourage you to give me a call, or any other therapist you may find in your search, to get a feel for whether or not you think it will be a good fit.
