Psychotherapy is a combination of many things, including science, humanities and creativity. Building a relationship is an art. A patient wants to feel understood, safe and guided during therapy -- while maintaining ownership of his or her life. There is no formula for achieving that balance, only the give and take that arises out of a mutually respectful relationship.
I have training in couples, psychodynamic, and cognitive therapies. We can help you grow by drawing from many areas of your life, including your history, your insight, your feelings, your stress management skills, your listening skills, and your willingness to develop new solutions. We'll work together to find the approach to therapy that matches your needs. Where appropriate, I may offer referrals to a psychopharmacologist, self-help resources, or other specialized care.
Creativity can play a role in the recovery process by offering you moments of joy. You can express your creativity in myriad ways, so the goal should be to find the expressions that balance your life and feed your soul. I love to write, and can offer you this experience. By addressing your love, work, and soulfulness needs, we can establish and address goals worth pursuing.

More Info About My Practice
I don't take insurance directly and provide all my patients with insurance statements for their Out-Of-Network Behavioral Health coverage. Depending on the policy, once the deductible is met, patients should receive reimbursement of between 50% and 90%. My fee rates are available upon request
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Thomas Moore, LCSW, BCD, is a Manhattan psychotherapist who has worked with individuals and couples, anxiety and mood disorders, workplace problems and relationship difficulties for over twenty years.
He graduated from Ackerman Institute for Couple's and Family Therapy and was a Clinical Associate there for an additional five years, working on a study that helped couples fight less, and act more lovingly toward each other. His private practice work has focused on this issue ever since.
He's been the Director of Barnabas Health One Source Employee Assistance Program for fifteen years. His responsibilities include overseeing the clinical care of over 900 clients from forty hospitals and corporations and providing early intervention strategies to employees with situational, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse problems. In both his private practice and as EAP Director, he coaches and advises high level professionals on career strategies, and top management on how to create a warmer, more productive work environment.
In his second career as a writer and a producer, he's won many fellowships and awards.
