I believe that people come to therapy in search of understanding, both for themselves and for others. To me, the most important aspect of my job as a therapist is to be able to form a connection with the person(s) sitting across the room. I encourage you to take the time necessary to find someone worthy of your time and money. I come from a social constructionist perspective of therapy, which means that I look at your unique experiences and the context in which you live your life. I am direct, engaging, and always curious of how you process the events in your life. I seek to provide realistic skills, compassion and motivation towards self-improvement. Life is not perfect and neither are we as humans. Thus I do not strive for a set standard. Instead, I strive for positive change and continuity.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Therapy can be a mysterious and even questionable place if you've never spent time on the couch. Before I started my own journey in therapy, I viewed it from the perspective of a skeptic. I was unsure how talking to a stranger would help me manage my issues. I imagine that you would have similar thoughts/feelings I had. I would encourage you to spend the time looking into the research behind talk therapy and why, when combined with other supports, it can be the most effective method for managing mental distress and illness. The process of therapy itself is sometimes more profound than any intervention and or techniques. The process I'm referring to is the idea of coming to session open minded and vulnerable in voicing your inner most concerns. My role is to provide the space for you to explore your thought process and decision making mechanisms. I hope you will choose to invest in the work that can lead to life long benefits.
