Reduced rates are offered for service personnel (e.g. nurses, caretakers, first responders, teachers, etc).

My working theory is that those who gain a sense of control in their life can persist through any difficulty. I have always believed that my job as a therapist is to help my client feel authentic; to help them find a way to line up their inside self and their outside self.
Often, we go about life doing and thinking things we know don't make us happy, or we adjust our behaviors to what we think others expect from us; each time feeling further and further from our true selves.
Helping clients discover what may be blocking them from feeling comfortable and in control of their own life is one of the greatest joys of counseling.

More Info About My Practice

I have spent the majority of my practice working in an acute crisis inpatient setting. While there I saw how vitally important prevention and early attention is to blossoming problems. Reaching clients before their difficulties become unbearable is my hope. To this end I rely heavily on the strength, safety, and confidentiality of the therapeutic relationship. Therapeutic progress cannot be made without both participants (client and counselor) being invested in the outcome.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Sometimes it goes all wrong.
Perhaps you had a therapist who was burned out from compassion fatigue and by the time you saw them they seemed rude and inattentive.
Perhaps you went to see a therapist who did not have appropriate training.
Perhaps you never got an appointment in a timely manner.
Perhaps you were not ready to hear what they had to say.
Try again. Invest in your mental health.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

I believe very strongly in an individual's power in their life. I think that the time between sessions is more important than the time IN the session. Life happens in between sessions.
Therefore, I will never encourage anyone to come more frequently than I honestly think they need to, and, generally speaking, even frequent sessions taper off once progress is in motion.
Once the client feels they are ready to maintain or continue the progress they have made the sessions are terminated- with the understanding that the client may call at any point in the future if assistance is needed.
