Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
While going to therapy is becoming more mainstream, there is still stigma around mental health and what going to therapy means. People often interpret being in therapy as being flawed or broken, but in fact, it's the opposite. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help, and in some ways, you are even ahead of the pack because you've become savvy to the notion that life is tough and having some support can help! One way to look at it is that everyone has problems, in one way or another. Some are big, and some are small, but everyone goes through rough patches at times. Being in the midst of a difficult time can make it hard to see clearly, make the right choices, and cope with difficult emotions and relationships. A therapist can be your guide to help you navigate through these challenges in an unbiased and safe way. And there's nothing wrong or weak about taking advantage of that!
