My practice is devoted to helping individuals, couples and families function more smoothly; feel balanced, in control and happy in their lives. I am an active participant in helping you get your life back and in order. Together,we partner to solve problems and become aware of patterns that are disturbing your happiness. Individual therapy can be short term, solution focused and very effective. We look at mind, body and spirit to enrich life experience and bring power, purpose and joy to your life.Longer term counseling allows for more in depth look at your life, familial patterns and the choices you make. You are encouraged to integrate dreams, engage in creative work and be introspective for a better understanding of yourself and a return to the self that you were meant to be. Couple counseling is a special interest of mine.I have been married for 35 years and share those communication skills that are effective to create a harmonious relationship. Together we can revitalize and renew long term marriages;strengthen communication and return to intimacy and a new enjoyment of the relationship. Counseling before marriage is offered to help with communication skills and goal setting...making sure couples are "on the same page", to create a long lasting union. Sometimes relationships need to end and I provide a safe setting for couples to have closure with honesty and caring. Your ability to take responsibility for your life allows for the return of empowerment, joy and vitality. I believe people have everything they need, all the answers within themselves.Life sometimes gets in the way,as do old patterns, unfinished business and whatever comes up to get us off our course.I help you know and honor your feelings and get your voice back. Special attention is paid to men's concerns. I help teach and encourage good communication ..something we never learned in school and yet is so important in any relationship. To feel alive, powerful and in control of your life..that is all possible and results from a good counseling relationship

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

In my practice for over 35 years I have had the privilege of working successfully with men. Very often men have been cut off from their feelings/emotions and counseling gives them an opportunity to get the support they need to take personal and powerful responsibility for their life. Knowing what they feel and being honest with themselves often leads to success at work and at home. With the support and insight gained in counseling, behaviors such as addictions (self medicating),dissatisfaction with work/career and failure in relationship are recognized and handled courageously.
I have been married for 37 years and love sharing the tools that I have developed over time in order to strengthen communication, honor and respect one another and create the intimacy and joy that relationships can offer.I help revitalize long term relationships and bring fun back. Premarital counseling is also offered to help couples find and keep their voice and yet be part of a partnership..which requires sharing. Making sure couples are "on the same page" with their values, their interests, their goals, that is the benefit of sitting down with a counselor to openly and honestly discuss how they can create a harmonious long lasting marriage.
Sometimes marriages need to end. I provide the safe space and the opportunity to be involved in hearing and healing the needs of each partner in terminating a marriage in a way that offers kindness and integrity.
