My approach to psychotherapy combines the skillful means and wisdom of Western and Buddhist Psychology to heal ourselves and those around us. We all suffer, but most of it is needless. We create habits to deal with suffering, but find that we repeat patterns that cease to be helpful. Building a trusting, safe, and stable environment, we may non-judgmentally observe how we are stuck and find the courage to release unhealthy behaviors, feelings, and thoughts. We are the able to grow in ways previously unknown that allow for joy, peace, and gentleness.

More Info About My Practice

I provide psychotherapy for individuals, couples, groups, and families. A standard session is 50 minutes. Individual sessions are also available by phone/skype.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Typically, psychotherapy helps first by developing someone to share things you either don't feel comfortable sharing with others, or others tend to give advice and not ultimately be very helpful. Second, it can give insight and context for what one is, has, or will experience. Third, I offer methods and ways of coping and finding healing.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

In my opinion, the purpose of psychotherapy is dependent on a number of factors including what issues you are working with, your inclinations, the relationship we develop, and timing. There is no one method that works for everyone, every issue, and every relationship. Having worked with people who have gone through psychoanalysis, existential psychotherapy, and cognitive behavioral therapies before coming to see me, often say, "that model was helpful then, but that is not what I am looking for now." I train in many different models and apply them all. At base I also look through a meditative lens and apply mindfulness and loving kindness exercises.
