As a psychotherapist, I offer individual therapy for adults with an emphasis on healing from emotional and physical abuse, working through transitional life experiences, to include end-of-life and caregiver challenges. My mission is to help uncover each person's worth and dignity, bringing value to strengths and using them to overcome current challenges. The value we place on our own needs and self-worth can be compromised in manipulative relationships that use subtle control. This type of emotional abuse can be hard to recognize and just as damaging as other types of abuse.

Some of the ways to recognize emotional abuse are:
Feeling that you are unfairly and constantly criticized
Feeling that your actions are heavily influenced or controlled by others
Fear of challenging this behavior in your life

I believe that everyone has the right to receive respect, not only in the counseling room, but from the people in her/his life. My approach is collaborative, with a strong emphasis on our relationship. Safety, trust and mutual empathy are essential to building this relationship. As a pastoral counselor, I can explore spirituality with you, and help to incorporate it, if appropriate. Everyone I work with is a unique individual and I respect and honor this uniqueness. You are the best expert on your own life and experiences. When we meet, you and I will work together to identify your challenges and set goals. I believe that we can not only recover from traumatic life events, but experience healing and growth as well.

Some other interests and specialties of mine are the transitional times of aging, divorce, grief and loss, including pet loss, and stress-related impacts on life and work.
