My approach to therapy is one of compassion and understanding. I believe relating from a point of non-judgment and respect is the foundation for a positive therapeutic relationship and the key ingredient for lasting change. We cannot change our past, but we can change our journey moving forward.

My Therapy Focus

Primarily, my focus of therapy work is with the family as a whole. While I will see a child or teen for individual sessions during the course of treatment, I encourage parent/s to be available for attendance as they are an integral part of their child's environment. Children and teens do not live in isolation; therefore, it is important to have caregiver support as they go through the process of therapy. In many instances, parenting skills are also a focus which means all family members are working together for positive change.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

I typically see clients weekly for approximately 12 weeks for most presenting issues; however, session length is always based on client needs. I have some clients who complete their treatment goals before 12 weeks and I have some who need more than 12 weeks. I work with my clients in reviewing the treatment plan on a regular basis to determine when goals have been met.
