Dr. Sheenie Ambardar, MD is a Stanford-educated Psychiatrist specializing in Adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, with expertise in psychopharmacologic medication management as well as psychotherapy. In January 2016, Dr. Ambardar was named by Los Angeles Magazine as a Super Doctor Rising Star, an honor given to only 2.5% of physicians in the Southern California area.

Dr. Ambardar is also a practitioner of Meditation and Kundalini Yoga, and blends Eastern and Western treatment philosophies in her practice. She traveled to India in late 2011, where she spent almost 3 months studying integrative, holistic medicine.

For 4 consecutive years, Dr. Ambardar has also been awarded the Compassionate Doctor Award, and has been identified as one of America's Most Compassionate Doctors. My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to help clients:

-understand the underlying and deep-seated reasons for their unhelpful behaviors
-transform their lives from the inside-out so that they no longer feel fear, sadness, and pain
-stop feeling trapped and stuck by seemingly unchangeable life circumstances
-heal the past, live mindfully in the present, and reach their highest potential
-have healthy, loving, and mutually rewarding personal relationships
-confidently pursue their dreams and live the life they were born to live
-and experience true happiness, peace, joy and contentment

Those are my primary goals during therapy and I truly look forward to helping you live a life full of happiness, hope, joy, and vitality.

My Therapy Focus

At The Happiness Psychiatrist, we believe that happiness is a state of mind that takes practice, effort, and vigilance and that it is within everyone's reach if we are willing to put in the time and effort for authentic self-reflection and personal growth. To this end, Dr. Ambardar's unique integrative and holistic treatment method blends Eastern and Western philosophies for the optimal benefit of her patients. She uses psychiatric medications in conjunction with an eclectic blend of psychotherapeutic modalities including psychodynamic or insight-oriented therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, interpersonal therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, journal therapy, walking therapy, Meditation, and Kundalini yoga.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

That is a personal decision that is entirely up to you. The ultimate goal of all therapy is to allow you to eventually complete therapy, equipped with the tools and behaviors that you need to lead a productive and happy life on your own. During your time at The Happiness Psychiatrist, that will be our primary goal and you are free to discontinue therapy at any time. That being said, many patients do find it beneficial to continue seeing their therapist regularly over the long-run, whether on a bi-weekly, or weekly basis. The ultimate decision is always up to you.
