Billing and Insurance

I don't currently accept insurance, but I can provide documentation if clients wish to submit to an insurance company for "out of network" benefit coverage

Fees: My fee is $100 per session. I offer special rates for individual sessions to active duty military, reservists, veterans and first responders if insurance you hold will not reimburse you for mental health care or care from out of network providers.

I choose to engage in therapy with people because seeing people discover and accept themselves inspires the same awe, wonder, and joy in me as I feel watching a slow video of a flower unfurl its petals. People who grant me permission to walk with them also give the greatest gift to me.

My perspective on human beings and therapy is distinctly existential and humanistic. I believe that people are more than just what they think and/or do. I also believe that there is a core of strength in all of us that persists even when we feel most helpless and lack faith in it.

I specialize in working with people who survived trauma including abuse of all kinds, rape, combat and other life-threatening experiences, and traumatic bereavement. My approach to therapy is driven by a deep respect for the uniqueness of each of us and our experience allied with a deep belief in our capacity to grow and change. As a result, though I am a depth psychologist, I integrate methods and ideas from many different theories of psychology as they seem best suited to help the individual in the moment. I believe that self-understanding is critically important because, once we understand how and why we do what we do, the ways to change what we decide to change become clearer. In their words, I believe that self-understanding gives us the knowledge to choose more freely and develop a vision of the lives and qualities relationships we want - including in our relationships with ourselves.

Therapy, in my view, is not something one person does to another, but is a collaboration upon which two people embark and to which both bring skills and expert knowledge. I am so grateful to the people I have engaged with for what they taught me and the gift of their trust.

Please feel free to visit my website for more information about my experience, philosophy, and methods. You will also find a few reviews there from people with whom I engaged in therapy.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I specialize in walking with survivors of experiences including abuse of all kinds, rape, combat and other life-threatening experiences, and traumatic bereavement. Struggles with self-understanding, self-worth, and shame are also challenges with which I have considerable experience.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to share ideas and explore with you. Sometimes, I will hold a candle to shine light in corners to discover what is there because those hidden things are often what most need to be seen. My promise is to be a truth-teller - to always tell you the truth as I know it while honoring the fact that it is my truth and not the only truth. As a therapist, I support your growth, respect you and your right to choose, recognize your gifts, and honor your strength.
