I enjoy working with families; family members are part of a system where all of the members are interrelated in many and varied ways. Every action of any one member creates a ripple that runs through the entire family system. Any external action on any one member will also have the same ripple effect on the family. This draws all of the external systems: jobs, school, legal, friends, etc., into the system. I think that children require different styles of parenting at different stages of their life. This is further complicated by the stages the parents themselves are going through. The family life cycle and developmental stages are important in defining therapy strategy.
